is a non-profit organisation that was setup by volunteers within the construction industry, to standardise the manufacture of mouldings in the UK. The objective of the organisation is to raise an awareness of quality control, and to bring a focus to the designs of profiles being used by architects and builders.
The mouldings that are covered by the standards control of the MIA includes Skirting Boards (Baseboards), Architrave and Dado rail. Between these components, most profiles are considered and standardised by the organisation.
There is no payment for membership of the MIA, however there are criteria of quality control, and the manufacturer must demonstrate that they are using a recognised method to standardise their profiling of mouldings, and conform to a standard exacting of the MIA.
