Etude about nested references

Even in ancient times^[1] it was well known, that the world is round.^{[nb 1]} Let's forget the Flat Earth Society,^{[nb 2]}^{[nb 3]} but what about common sense?

Or a link to a reference from within another reference?^[3]

What about moving the ref down?
