Thaththa (Father) (Sinhala: තාත්තා) is a 2023 Sri Lankan Sinhalese language drama film directed by Prasad Samarathunga and produced by Rushantha Wijenayake for Rusha Creations.[2] It stars Kumara Thirimadura and Nilmini Tennakoon in lead roles along with Sinethi Akila, Thisew Wijenayaka, Rushantha Wijenayaka and Kumara Wandurassa in supportive roles.[3]
The film marks second film direction by Prasad Samarathunga, after his 2019 film Iskoleta Man Awa,[3] where it became the film that was aired on the highest number of television channels within a short period of time.[4] The film is produced by Rushantha Wijenayake, and screenplay done by director himself with Lalith Warnapriya. Cinematography by Sisikirana Paranavithana and assistant direction done by Tharindu Ilangakoon.[5] Art Direction by Githani Seneviratne and editing by Shaan Alwis.[6] Production management and media coordination handled by Upul Nishantha.[7] Chethiya Lahiru worked as the still photographer. Tharaka Adhikari is the makeup artist. Popular musician Dinesh Subasinghe is the music director and theme lyrics penned by Dr. Shani Anthony.[2] Nalin Perera and Upekha Nirmani made background vocals.[7]
The Muhurath festival as held at Bellanwila Rajamaha Vihara in February 2022.[3][8] The film was released on 17 December 2023 in EAP Theatres during the "Savoy Cinema Festival 2023".[1]
