13 Hours (film)[edit]

Moved to mainspace by Captain Assassin! (talk). Self-nominated at 08:36, 1 May 2015 (UTC).

  • New enough, nowhere near long enough. Hook is another X is about Y hook. Not very interesting. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 12:29, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Are you going to come up with another hook? --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 12:53, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
  • You aren't getting it. Saying that "X is a film about Y" isn't interesting, unless there's a reason why it's remarkable or unusual that someone would make a film about Y. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 19:07, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
  • This is what you aren't getting Jakec. I've suggested two more hooks, which stated the interested facts. Isn't it interesting that the film is about the 11th anniversary attacks of 9/11 and a US Ambassador was killed? --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 09:24, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Look at it this way: why should I be surprised that there is a film about it. Sure, I "didn't know" that there was a film about it, but it's not in any way remarkable. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 11:16, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
  • @Jakec: You think, I need a new reviewer here? I'm in DYK more than a year and I've never heard of this type of issue before. No offense, but personally I think you are being very aggressive on my nominations. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 16:17, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
  • You're perfectly free to request a new reviewer. Just use ((subst:DYK?again)) or post to WT:DYK. I suspect that nobody has called you out on your DYK hooks before because your earlier hooks were, well, mostly interesting. Or at least in some way remarkable. But consider this: you probably didn't know that Sterry Creek is a tributary of the Lackawanna River. It's new information for you. But would you be interested in a hook that just said ...that Sterry Creek is a tributary of the Lackawanna River? --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 16:32, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Now I get it. I shall request Yoninah then, to extract a better hook from the article. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 16:38, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
  • ALT3: ... that it took nearly 4 months to cast the first 8 stars of 13 Hours? Yoninah (talk) 23:32, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Sorry to rain on the parade, but that isn't mentioned in the article. It lists eight cast members who joined between January and May (which is quite possibly more like 3-3.5 months, but whatever). It doesn't say that those were the only eight cast members. For all I know from reading the article, eight people joined the cast in January, but the article only mentioned one. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 09:39, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
@Captain Assassin!: it's really hard to find a hook in this article because at present all it is is a list of casting and filming notes. Do you have any other material to add to it? Please also note that a Google search comes up with another film and Wikipedia page, 13Hrs. Perhaps a disambiguation notice should be placed on both articles. Yoninah (talk) 19:14, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
Okay, I'm searching. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 16:27, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Where is the hook fact in either of the sources provided? Yoninah (talk) 18:29, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
  • This discussion has gone on so long because the original reviewer expressed dissatisfaction with the "X is about Y hook", and I agree. Some additional content has been added in the interim. How about:
New long enough and meets core content policies. Both ALT5 and ALT6 are sufficiently interesting to go to the main page. Kudos to Yoninah for coming up with those hooks. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 13:34, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
