"By creating a common framework, the flow of information to investors and other users is accelerated." - No, the speed remains always the same, but the flow can be supervised and scanned by machines. That's the only reason behind information standards: That computer can understand what's going on. Otherwise we could stick just with http and smtp and don't need anything else. Humans can read HTML, but computers need XML. That's the difference between humans and machines.
