The family tree on the BBC Radio 4 site (which has to be taken as definitive) has Phil's birthday as 23rd April 1928 and Jill's birthday as 3rd October 1930 which means that she is about two and a half years younger than him. I therefore propose deleting the clause "Some ten years younger than her husband," unless someone would like to rephrase the sentence. 83.104.249.240 (talk) 15:03, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
I have added "at least" because just before the start of the affair in 1985 an episode ended with Caroline saying "oh not again Brian". We were led to believe at the time that they had been entangled the previous christmas. (Caroline went to West Berlin at this time, but I cannot recall if Brian was among the other characters who visited Checkpoint Charlie.) The producer of The Archers, William Smethurst then, turned up on Feedback to explain that they had never claimed to cover every incident. Philip Cross (talk) 19:30, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

There's no mention of Vince Casey, Elizabeth Pargetter's current relationship and ultimate cause of the EV-charging station storyline (by having obliged David and Ruth Archer to sell the land it's being built on). He's also a major contributor to Ben Archer's mental health problems. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alarick Thewe (talk • contribs) 11:06, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
Surely the Heather Bell linked as a previous actor is not the right person. TheOneOnTheLeft (talk) 18:44, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
I do not understand what is intended by this. It's splendidly succinct but we still presumably need to avoid ambiguity.
Was Graham Seed the second or the third Nigel Pargetter?
Was the first Nigel a man called Nigel Caliburn who subsequently changed his name to Nigel Carrington?
Or are Nigel Caliburn and Nigel Carrington different people?
I feel we should be told, not leastly because it seems possible that this actor (one of these actors...) gave Nigel his name.
(Also - tho this may be a personal problem for me - I still have not entirely recovered from my sense of shock when Nigel's voice changed back in 198something.)
If you know the answer, please feel free to clarify the text. Please. And thank you.

Cam anyone remember where Kylie and Sharon Richards came from? I dimly remember John Archer having a fling with a girl in a caravan who was considered unsuitable, and I think that MIGHT be part of the connection. But if anyone is able to be more precise and convinced, maybe you could add the explanation to the entry here. And please. And (especially if you did) thank you. Unless I am mistaken, George Hart played Tom Forrest simply in the original pilot week (and then Jethro Larkin in the continuous serial). As his name appears in this article, then for consistency so should that of Nan Marriott-Watson who was the Doris Archer in the pilot.
Also - at quite a late stage, Chris Gittins's name began to be billed as Chriss Gittins. I do not know why, or what his full name was. Anyone know?

Who is the real author of the contents since Jill Archer is a fictional character?--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 04:50, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
I think it's very unwieldy. Surely it would be better to list characters, all characters living and dead, in alphabetical order? The "family" and then "former principal" categories make it very difficult to understand and also lead to leaving out key characters that are not in one of the families of the enclave. So Lynda and Robert get mentioned but not Kirst and Jazzer for example, just because the two Snells consitute a "family". How can we get agreement for a major makeover?PhilomenaO'M (talk) 12:20, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
According to the photo caption in this article which reads "Brian Roper as Roger Hood, Ronald Baddiley as Percy Hood, Nona Blair as Joan Hood, Jean Lester as Magaret Hood, Dorothy Smith as Betty Hood and Eileen Barry as Diana Hood recording an episode of The Archers in 1956" it seems that there is a whole family of characters missing from the list. Was the great chief really a Silent Character? I think I recall his great French accent in his frequent "Caroline!". Proof is hard to find, unfortunately. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.87.75.122 (talk) 14:04, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
On the assumption that his brief return in 2017/18? was his last gasp, I've moved him from 'other residents' to 'villains and rogues' and updated the entry — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adagio67 (talk • contribs) 13:43, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
It's been about five years since we saw any sign of Mike, Brenda or Hayley, so they're better off in the "10.2 Other major characters" section with Betty. Which rather leaves Roy as the sole surviving Tucker, complete with a nifty family tree. I don't really want to trash people's work setting up the family tree, but I can see grounds for moving him into "8 Other Ambridge residents".Nickpheas (talk) 15:17, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
No mention of Pru Forrest, wife of Tom Forrest? She was originally a speaking character but became a silent character for many years until one day, famously, she uttered briefly! The childless Forrests also raised two adopted boys, never mentioned now.
"Carol Tregorran née Grey (Eleanor Bron, formerly played by Anne Cullen (born 1926)) first appeared in 1954. Carol was originally married to Ambridge landowner Charles Grenville until his death. She then, eventually, married John Tregorran."
- My memory was that Carol Grey was originally unmarried and the drama was: would she/wouldn't she marry John Tregorran? Then she married the dynamic Charles Grenville etc.
A brother(?) or other relative of Dan Archer, from Australia, turned up at some point, but again was soon consigned to history.
I'm sure there is more! CatNip48 (talk) 19:23, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
Who was 'born 1926' - Anne Cullen or Carol Grey ? 86.129.146.77 (talk) 00:25, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
Where is Lewis Carmichael? He married Julia Pargetter, who died not long after. He continued to live with the family, and played a part in running the gallery, I think, of which he was the architect. Then he stopped being mentioned. Sinister. Snugglepuss (talk) 10:15, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
