This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered.
Hello. On behalf of Vox Media, I've drafted an expanded and improved Wikipedia article about Jim Bankoff for community review. I don't edit the main space because of my conflicts of interest, so I'm looking for volunteer editors to review this draft and implement proposed content appropriately. The existing Wikipedia article has a few problems:
Half the sourcing of the article is bad:
Two inline citations in the lead direct readers to non-functioning websites
Reference #5 (link) does not mention Mr. Bankoff, so this source should not be used to verify his Emmy Award win
In the "Personal life" section, the inline citation directing readers to elsoncompany.com is not working, and I'm not sure this is a Wikipedia-appropriate source even if the website loaded properly
Some details are inaccurate or outdated:
Mr. Bankoff is not a current advisor for Providence Equity Partners
The birth date currently displayed in the article is incorrect, according to Mr. Bankoff
As well, the introduction does not adequately summarize his career by mentioning only his current role at Vox Media
I've worked to address all these issues and provide a more complete and neutral overview of his early life and education, career, and personal life, using appropriate sourcing. Mr. Bankoff and Vox Media have confirmed the accuracy of this draft. To that point, I'd like to point out one problem I ran into:
Regarding Mr. Bankoff's birthdate, I have removed this from the draft for now as I have not been able to locate a source to confirm the correct date. This source suggests he was born in 1969, but Mr. Bankoff has confirmed he was born in 1968. To resolve this discrepancy, I'm open to editors' suggestions and Mr. Bankoff could potentially provide proof via email to OTRS if it's decided that is what's needed.
I hope editors will agree this draft is a vast improvement over the existing article. Again, I'm seeking a volunteer to copy over markup appropriately. I'm happy to answer questions or concerns here or on my user talk page. Thank you! Inkian Jason (talk) 18:18, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Ipigott: Hello again! Your review of the Melissa Bell (journalist) article was very helpful. I was wondering if you have any interest in reviewing this related draft about Ms. Bell's colleague. If not, totally understood, but I wanted to check before I reach out to other editors. Thanks, Inkian Jason (talk) 21:07, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, busy until Monday.--Ipigott (talk) 07:43, 26 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Ipigott: No problem. I'll keep reaching out to editors, and of course you're more than welcome to revisit this next week if you're interested. Thanks! Inkian Jason (talk) 15:27, 26 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've now looked through the current article and your new draft but I think I should leave this one to other editors. I'm really more involved in women's biographies and I have quite a stack of Wikipedia assignments to catch up on. It also looks to me as if you need an administrator to incorporate the editing history of the current article. I would be happy in future to assist with biographies of women, especially if they are completely new articles.--Ipigott (talk) 09:51, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Darylgolden: Hello again! I'm not sure if you replied to the Vox Media edit request I posted here because you watch the page, or because you saw the request in the queue, but either way, I am wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing this request to replace the existing Jim Bankoff article with the draft I've proposed here. If you are interested, please read my comments above, and let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I am seeking an editor who will review the draft and copy over markup appropriately. (I'm also searching for an editor to take a look at the related draft article for Eater, if you work in the AFC queue sometimes.) Thanks! Inkian Jason (talk) 19:09, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the incorrect birth date, which was not in the cited source. It's tedious to compare an existing article against a new draft, and I prefer multiple incremental changes, so I don't know if I'll have time to review the draft. But I'll try to look at your other issues if I can.
We don't disqualify sources just because links are broken or web sites are down. Kendall-K1 (talk) 19:44, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Kendall-K1: Thank you for removing the incorrect birth date. Also, not sure if this helps you or not, but I created this diff in my user space showing differences between the live article and my draft. I'm also happy to address one section at a time, if you're interested in reviewing any. Inkian Jason (talk) 21:46, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
"...depicting Thurman Munson hanging in his office..." That's pretty gruesome. Kendall-K1 (talk) 03:34, 10 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Inkian Jason: I will sweep through the draft and fix up things. Then I will complete the move.
"depicting Thurman Munson in his office" is still ambiguous but I think readers will know what is meant. Kendall-K1 (talk) 19:29, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've uploaded a photograph and submitted an OTRS ticket for File:Jim Bankoff, Vox Media, July 2018.jpg, which has already been approved. Is someone willing to add this image to the infobox on my behalf? @AmericanAir88: I am pinging you since you helped with the draft. Thanks! Inkian Jason (talk) 21:05, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Request edits: add co-founder; add Early Career; add "Recognition" section.[edit]
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered.
Hi, This is Tater graham at VM and I would like to request the following edits.
In the first sentence in the article please add the word "co-founder" to the sentence so the sentence reads: James Phillip Bankoff is an American businessman who is co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer (CEO) of Vox Media and its predecessor SB Nation.
In the Infobox please add "co-founder" next to Jim Bankoff's name in the Key people parameter, inside the parenthesis.
Directly below the heading Career please create a new sub-heading called "Early Career" right above the first paragraph of that section.
In the SB Nation and Vox Media section, directly underneath the heading please add
In the second paragraph of the SB Nation and Vox Media section, please replace the first sentence with this new sentence that follows the model for the early history of Vox Media found on the Vox Media page, which is a more accurate description of the history: In 2011 Vox Media was launched, with SB Nation becoming a division of the new company.
Between the end of the second paragraph and the beginning of the third paragraph of the SB Nation and Vox Media section, please create a new heading called "Recognition".
@Tater graham at VM: Done all apart from the second point. I suppose this was meant for the Vox Media article but "co-founder" is not a position to hold. IceWelder [✉] 08:58, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Edit request to change 8 brands to 13 brands[edit]
An impartial editor has reviewed the proposed edit(s) and asked the editor with a conflict of interest to go ahead and make the suggested changes.
Hello, I would like to thank IceWelder for the edits he made in response to my last request. I hope he will come back to this page and make the following edits as well. In the SB Nation and Vox Media section, in the second sentence of the second paragraph, please change "eight brands" to "13 brands,[1]"add "New York Magazine,[2]"after the word "including"; and at the end of the sentence after "and other businesses" add the words "including Vox Media Studios,[3]the Vox Media Podcast Network,[4][5] and Cafe Media."[6]
Go ahead: I have reviewed these proposed changes and suggest that you go ahead and make the proposed changes to the page. Melmann 12:07, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
