It's mentioned in the "modern memes" section as meaning cold and damp, but it's clearly the slang meaning ("high quality weed" basically) that's being used when people refer to "dank memes." The reason "dank memes" are weird memes is because, by analogy, they're best enjoyed (or produced) by someone who is very high. 24.111.249.177 (talk) 16:07, 1 July 2023 (UTC)

Should the article not have an example of a well-known, classic meme/meme template with an appropriate caption as its lead image? The lead feels bare at the moment without one. RyanAl6 (talk) 00:45, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

An Internet meme, commonly known simply as a meme (/miːm/, MEEM), is a cultural item (such as an idea, behaviour, or style) that is spread via the Internet, often through social media platforms. The word “meme” comes from the Greek word “mimema” meaning imitated.[1] Inspired by the concept of memes proposed by Richard Dawkins in 1972, Internet memes can take various forms, such as images, videos, GIFs, and various other viral sensations. (This first came up on Ligma joke, where @TheGonkInQuestion reverted my edit lowercasing internet). This page uses it inconsistently, but seems to prefer "Internet". There is a wiki page about it: Capitalization of Internet, where it seems that the consensus is that "internet" (lowercase) is more modern. To me, "Internet" with a capital I is outdated (I also send emails, not e-mails or E-Mails). I couldn't see anything in the MoS about it. Does anyone have an opinion either way?
