Matthieu Le Carpentier better known as Skread, (born in Hérouville-Saint-Clair,[1] Caen, France on 22 September 1981) is a French record producer, songwriter, and musician mainly in rap and R&B. He has composed for a great number of artists, notably Orelsan, Diam's, Booba, Rohff, Sinik, Nessbeal and others. He has worked on projects of young singer Isleym, rappers El Matador, Brasco and rap band Nysay. He is co-founder of the record label 7th Magnitude and has signed Ore;san and Nessbeal to the label. Skread has also appeared on many of Orelsan's music videos.

Career

Le Carpentier studied at École de Management de Normandie, where in 2000, he met french rapper and artist Orelsan and Gringe. He composed for Orelsan, and the three cooperated in the musical formation Casseurs Flowters (officially made up of Orelsan and Gringe).

He has been active since 2004, notably with the release of Panthéon from Booba with the tracks "Tallac" and "Baby", the latter featuring Nessbeal. In 2006, he co-produced with Kilomaitre and Elyo the track "La Boulette" from Diam's. The song won Best francophone Song" for 2006 during the NRJ Music Awards.

On 8 July 2013, he released a compilation Instrus Vol. 2, showcasing his productions for Orelsan and Nessbeal.

7th Magnitude

Skread has established the French urban hip hop and R&B label 7th Magnitude with Ablaye, his friend and member of Orelsan entourage.

The label has been instrumental in launching Orelsan, with Skread producing and releasing the successful Orelsan albums Perdu d'avance and Le Chant des sirènes in addition to two albums by Nessbeal, namely NE2S and Sélection naturelle and the debut album of singer Isleym.
