The Shaheen III (Urdu: شاهين) (White Falcon) is an intermediate-range ballistic missile speculated to be under-development with a range of 4000-4500 km by NESCOM and the SUPARCO, in a joint project. The program is envisioned to replace the Ghauri System — a liquid fuel program developed by Kahuta Research Laboratories. Liquid-fueled missiles require a longer logistics train and take hours to fuel. Therefore, Shaheen-III program was developed to replace the Ghauri system. Due to its importance, major research industries are namely contributing in this program.

Developmental History

In 2003, Ministry of Science announced an ambitious space program to be developed. According to Science Ministry, the spacecraft designing is build developed by Suparco with engines are developed by NESCOM. The NDC is focused to developed an antiballistic missile (ABM) systems. It is a member of the solid-fueled Shaheen System's family and is envisioned to replace the less advanced liquid-fueled Ghauri III system [1]. The program is intended to replace the development or lower the dependence on Ghauri-III missile whose development was claimed to be canceled in May 2000 according to its project-director dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan.[2] The Shaheen series systems are developed by Pakistan's NESCOM.[1] However, in 2011, the flight of Ghauri-III was taken and cold-tests of its engine was tested but due to political reasons, Pakistan did not confirmed the flight. As more recent, Pakistan Scientific Community and scientists who developed the program claimed that the missile is ready to launch but its up to Government when it will permit the permission.[3]
