Samarin District (Persian: بخش ثمرین) is in Ardabil County, Ardabil province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Samarin.[3]
After the 2006 National Census, Gharbi Rural District was separated from the Central District in the establishment of Samarin District, which was divided into two rural districts.[3]
The census in 2011 counted 9,161 people in 2,314 households.[4] At the latest census in 2016, the district had 8,471 inhabitants living in 2,452 households.[2]
In March 2018, the village of Samarin was elevated to the status of a city.[5]
