Ruppoldsried is a municipality in the district of Fraubrunnen in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

Ruppoldsried has an area of Template:Km2 to mi2. Of this area, 79.4% is used for agricultural purposes, while 12.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 6.9% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (1.4%) is non-productive (rivers or glaciers).[1]

Demographics

Ruppoldsried has a population (as of 2007) of 265, of which 2.6% are foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has grown at a rate of 10.4%. Most of the population (as of 2000) speaks German (98.0%), with French being second most common ( 1.6%) and Portugese being third ( 0.4%).

In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP which received 47.5% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the SPS (23.9%), the CVP (9.3%) and the FDP (8.8%).

The age distribution of the population (as of 2000) is children and teenagers (0-19 years old) make up 32.3% of the population, while adults (20-64 years old) make up 58.6% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 9.2%. The entire Swiss population is generally well educated. In Ruppoldsried about 81.4% of the population (between age 25-64) have completed either non-mandatory upper secondary education or additional higher education (either University or a Fachhochschule).

Ruppoldsried has an unemployment rate of 1.21%. As of 2005, there were 34 people employed in the primary economic sector and about 12 businesses involved in this sector. 7 people are employed in the secondary sector and there are 3 businesses in this sector. 13 people are employed in the tertiary sector, with 5 businesses in this sector.[1]
