Roomzzz Aparthotels was established in 2006 in Leeds. As of February 2021, there are 10 sites across 7 cities with a total of 792 apartments in the United Kingdom.
The concept of an aparthotel has created its own niche in the hospitality sector. Hotels and serviced apartment are well understood by traveling guests, whereas an aparthotel is essentially a hybrid of a hotel and a serviced apartment.
The company accommodates both business and leisure travelers with city centre locations in Newcastle, York, Leeds, Manchester, Chester, Nottingham and London.
Apartment types in order of sizes across the hotels are Neo Studio, Smart Studio, Grande Studio, Dezign Studio, Liberty Suite, and other suites such as the Penthouse.
Roomzzz has 3 sites in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Roomzzz Leeds City West.[1] and Roomzzz Headingley are purpose-built serviced apartment blocks in the inner suburbs of the city.
Roomzzz Leeds City was built on the former Hakuna Matata Bar. Situated next to the Cosmopolitan Hotel which was formerly known as the Golden Lion Hotel. It is situated in close proximity to Leeds train station and the famous Dark Arches which span the River Aire.
Roomzzz bought the former Yang Sing Oriental hotel[2] a Grade II listed building in Chinatown, Manchester in 2011, repurposing it and naming it to Roomzzz Manchester City[3][4]
Roomzzz Newcastle City[5][6] is a Grade II* listed buildings in Tyne and Wear originally named Austin Friars, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Occupying on the land owned by the Austin Friars dating back to 1290. In 2020 a modern purpose built extension was added and linked to the original site.
Roomzzz Chester City[7] is a conversion of a former DVLA building, located by the city’s ancient city walls with views of Chester Racecourse.
Roomzzz Nottingham was originally the Welbeck Hotel[8] and was reconfigured to create the aparthotel. Located in the centre of Nottingham, a city known for it's Robin Hood legend and Nottingham Castle.
Roomzzz Manchester Corn Exchange[9] opened in 2018 and is located in the Grade II listed Edwardian style Corn Exchange, Manchester with shopping and restaurant facilities. The building was formerly known as The Triangle. The Grade II listed triangular building, which dates back to 1903, was originally used for trading and later became the Triangle shopping centre. It's owner Aviva and developer Queensberry Real Estate's painstakingly refurbished the building costing a reported £30m.
Roomzzz London Stratford[10] opened in July 2018. Close to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London Stadium and the ArcelorMittal Orbit.
Roomzzz York City[11] is a new build and located next to the River Ouse, and Rowntree Park
Roomzzz Edinburgh[12][13] is a billion-pound project developed by TH Real Estate, now known as Nuveen. It will be part of the ultra-modern St James Quarter, alongside other top brands such as the W Hotel, John Lewis, Next, The Alchemist and Everyman Cinema.
