Early life and education

McGee is originally from Erie, Pennsylvania.[2] He was raised Catholic.

McGee has earned 23 academic degrees, 13 of which are at the doctorate level.[3] He started his education by graduating with a bachelor's degree in Social Science from Gannon University in 1969.[4]

Wanting to land a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records, McGee began collecting college degrees.[5] His first doctorate-level degree would be a Juris Doctor from the Cleveland State University College of Law.[6] In 2003, McGee earned a PhD in Politics from the University of Sunderland.[7]

Career

McGee was an influential figure in developing the accounting laws in Armenia and Bosnia, having been responsible for drafting the accounting laws in both countries.[7] He also helped both countries convert to international standards. Additionally, he helped review Mozambique's accounting laws.

McGee currently teaches at the Broadwell College of Business and Economics at Fayetteville State University.[10]

McGee has written more than 60 nonfiction books, 5 novels, over 1000 scholarly papers.[10] He initially began writing mainly technical articles and books.[18] Starting in the 90's, he would shift more to discussing ethical issues.

Martial arts

McGee practiced martial arts as a teenager.[18] He worked as a boxing sparring partner[2] but moved away from the sport, unable to keep up with its demands.

At the age of 65, McGee began practicing Taekwondo again.[19] He also began practicing Karate and Tai Chi. He is now a martial arts instructor.

He has won multiple world championships in taekwondo, karate, kung fu and tai chi, as well as more than 80 gold medals in national (USA) championships. He is an inductee at the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame.[10] As of February, 2024, McGee's career gold medal count is 1020.[7]
