RKS Design is a California design firm and innovation consultancy founded in 1980 and led by industrial designers Ravi Sawhney..[1] and Lance Hussey. The company designs and develops consumer, medical, and industrial products, as well as user interfaces, and user experiences. It is widely known for designing Teddy Ruxpin[2]. The company's current clients include Unilever, LG, Samsung, Zyliss, and Line6.
The company is the creator of a design-thinking a design-thinking methodology called Psycho-Aesthetics[3]. Psycho-Aesthetics was the subject of the book Predictable Magic[4]. Psycho-Aesthetics is taught to students at UCLA, USC, SCAD, and Harvard Business School[5].
The company designed Teddy Ruxpin[6], a successful toy in the 1980s and early 1990s[7].
In collaboration with musician Dave Mason, the company designed and developed RKS Guitars[8]
RKS worked with Wikipad to rebrand and redevelop the GameVice mobile controller, which was the first mobile controller sold in Apple Stores.[9]
