Pikauterangi was the paramount chief of Ngati Toa in the late 18th and early 19th century.

Pikauterangi lead the Ngati Toa invasion of the Waikato and Waipa, in the Battle of Hingakaka, the largest battle ever in Aotearoa (New Zealand) in the late 18th century.

He was the oldest son of Chief Te Maunu. He married two sisters, Te Kahurangi and Nihoniho, and their children became important chiefs in Ngati Toa also.[1] Together with his older brother Wharerau they formed a hapu group within Ngati Toa called Ngāti Kurī
