Pastures of the Blue Crane is an Australian novel. It was about a teenage girl, Ryl Merewether, who inherits a shack in northern New South Wales.
It won the Children's Book of the Year Award and the Mary Gilmore Award, and established its authors reputation.[1]

The book was adapted for TV by the ABC in 1969. It was the most expensive production from the ABC drama department since My Brother Jack in 1964, although the budget did not stretch to colour. Shooting toook place in Sydney, Murwillumbah, Coolangatta and Brisbane.[2]
