Pachelmsky District (Russian: Па́челмский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[6] district (raion), one of the twenty-seven in Penza Oblast, Russia. It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,300 square kilometers (500 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Pachelma.[1] As of the 2010 Census, the total population of the district was 16,310, with the population of Pachelma accounting for 49.4% of that number.[3]
The district was established in 1928 within Penza Okrug of Middle Volga Oblast.[2] It became a part of Penza Oblast in 1939.[2]
