Noflen is a municipality in the district of Seftigen in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.
Noflen is first mentioned in 1250 as Novelon.[3]
Noflen has an area of Template:Km2 to mi2. Of this area, 80.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 14.2% is forested. The rest of the land, (5.1%) is settled.[4]
The municipality is a scattered settlement with an upper and lower village on the Terrasse above the Gürbetal (Gürbe valley), while part of the municipality is on the valley floor. Since 1948 the hamlet of Stoffelsrüti (in 1941 it had a population of 41), which used to be a exclave of Jaberg, has belonged to Noflen.
Noflen has a population (as of 2007[update]) of 234, of which 3.4% are foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has decreased at a rate of -2.9%. Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (99.2%), with the rest (0.8%) speaking Albanian.
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP which received 73% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the CSP (7.3%), the SPS (6.9%) and the FDP (4.5%).
The age distribution of the population (as of 2000[update]) is children and teenagers (0-19 years old) make up 28.2% of the population, while adults (20-64 years old) make up 60.9% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 10.9%. The entire Swiss population is generally well educated. In Noflen about 76.9% of the population (between age 25-64) have completed either non-mandatory upper secondary education or additional higher education (either University or a Fachhochschule).
Noflen has an unemployment rate of 0.3%.
