Molly Daniels is an Australian actress, writer, director, and producer. She is best known for her roles in You're Skitting Me, Tomorrow When the War Began, Ronny Chieng: International Student and Very Small Business. She was also a co-host on the ABC children's podcast Short and Curly.
Daniels was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia.[2][3] Her mother is actress Robyn Butler, and her stepfather is actor Wayne Hope.[3][2][4] In a 2019 interview with the Australian magazine New Idea, Butler stated that "Our girls are both really funny. They take great pride in being able to make us laugh, and I'm a particularly good audience for them."[3] After graduating from high school, she studied film and television at Swinburne University in 2014.[2] She studied at the iO Theatre in Chicago, USA.[5]
Daniels began her acting career in 2004, when she played a flower girl in the SBS comedy series Stories from the Golf.[6] In 2008, she portrayed the character 'Sam Angel' in the comedy series Very Small Business (she reprised this role in 2018).[7] From 2012-2013, she was a performer (also writer and director) on the Australian children's sketch comedy show You're Skitting Me. In 2016, she played the lead role of 'Ellie' in Tomorrow, When the War Began.[8][1][9] She portrayed one of the main characters, 'Asher', in the ABC series Ronny Chieng: International Student.[9] For her role in Tomorrow, When the War Began, she undertook stunt and firearms training.[10] She wrote for The InBESTigators, an Australian mockumentary children's television series that focuses on themes of friendship, responsibility, and teamwork.[3] She was also co-host and writer on the ABC children's podcast Short & Curly.[9][11][12][13][14] Daniels worked as a producer and director on the web series Double Date Night. The web series was about a pair of best friends, Vic and Riley, who went on double dates every Wednesday.[15]
