Man of God (Greek: Ο Άνθρωπος του Θεού) is a 2021 English-language Greek biographical drama film written and directed by Yelena Popovic and starring Aris Servetalis as Nectarios of Aegina and also starring Mickey Rourke and Alexander Petrov.[4][5]
Man of God is based on the life of Saint Nectarios of Aegina, Greece. The film depicts his work among the public and within the church and also his conflicts with his superiors and the religious establishment. The film does not cover his childhood and Nektarios is already serving as a Metropolitan bishop in Egypt in the opening of the film.[6]
Principal photography wrapped in Greece in September 2020.[7][8]
The film made its world premiere on 25 April 2021 at the Moscow International Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award.[1] It was then released in theaters on 26 August 2021.[9] The film's four consecutive first weeks sold 241,014 tickets in Greece.[10]
