Maia Tabet is a Lebanese journalist, editor, translator and professional cook.[1] She was born and raised in Beirut. She studied philosophy and political science at the American University in Beirut, graduating with high honors in 1980.
Tabet is noted for her translation of two novels by the Lebanese author Elias Khoury: Little Moutain and White Masks. The former was the first Khoury novel to appear in English translation (in 1989) while the second was nominated for the 2011 Banipal Prize.
Her translations of Alawiyya Subh and Ahmed Fagih have appeared in Banipal magazine. An excerpt from White Masks was also published in Words Without Borders.
Tabet currently lives in Baltimore, Maryland where she is a professional cook and caterer.[2]
