Krithi Shetty (born 21 September 2003)[1] is an Indian actress who predominantly works in Telugu films. Following a brief appearance in Super 30 (2019), she made her debut in leading role with the commercially successful film Uppena (2021).[2] She went on to star in several Telugu films.
Krithi Shetty was born on 21 September 2003 in Hassan, Karnataka,[3] to a Tulu family.[4][5][6] Her father is a businessman, and her mother is a fashion designer.[3][7]
She was brought up in Mumbai as of February 2021[update].[8][9] During her academic career, she worked in commercials.[6]
Following a brief appearance in the Hindi film Super 30,[10] Shetty made her debut in a lead role, aged 17, with the Telugu film Uppena[11] directed by Buchi Babu Sana and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. The film was commercially successful at the box office, collecting over ₹100 crore (US$12 million).[12] Reviewing her performance, The Times of India's Neeshitha Nyayapati wrote: "The debutants Vaisshnav and Krithi manage to pull off the intricacies of their characters well for the most part.[13]
Later that year, she appeared in the Telugu film Shyam Singha Roy opposite Nani.[14] Shyam Singha Roy received mixed to mostly positive reviews from critics and was another commercial success grossing over ₹50 crore at the box office.[15] A month later, in Sankranti of 2022, she starred in Bangarraju opposite Naga Chaitanya. Bangarraju emerged as the Sankranti winner of 2022 grossing over ₹66 crore, becoming another commercial success.[16] This was then followed by a series of commercial failures in the latter half of 2022 and 2023 with her next film The Warriorr, directed by N.Lingusamy where she appeared opposite Ram Pothineni received negative reviews from critics and became a huge commercial failure.[17] Her next release in the same year was the Telugu film Macherla Niyojakavargam, directed by M. S. Rajashekhar Reddy[18] also opened to negative reviews and failed at the box office.[19]
Her last release of 2022 was Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali which was directed by Mohana Krishna Indraganti where she co-starred with Sudheer Babu,[20][21] opened to mixed reviews and became a commercial failure at the box office.[22] She then made her Tamil-language debut in 2023 with Venkat Prabhu's bilingual Custody (2023) co-starring Naga Chaitanya.[23] Custody opened to mixed reviews and became a commercial disaster at the box office.[24]
In 2024, she starred in Manamey alongside Sharwanand and although the film opened to mixed reviews, it became a commercial success at the box office.[25]
