Jenny Hval (born in Oslo, Norway on 11 July 1980) is a Norwegian singer, composer, lyricist and writer. She has released 4 albums: To Sing You Apple Trees (2006) and Medea]] (2008) under the stage name Rockettothesky on the Trust Me Records label and reverting to her own name Jenny Hval, the albums Viscera (2011) and Innocence Is Kinky (2013) both on Rune Grammofon Records. She also has an EP Cigars released in 2006.

Music career

She studied in University of Melbourne, Australia specializing in creative writing and performance. While studying, she was also vocalist in Australian bands iPanic and Folding For Air.

Moving back to Norway, she released her debut EP Cigars in 2006 and was nominated for the category "Best newcomer" during Spellemannprisen. Soon she became part of Rockettothesky that was signed to Trust Me Records. The band had released albums To Sing You Apple Trees in 2006 and Medea in 2008.

After folding of the band Rockettothesky, she concentrated on her solo career. She has also collaborated recently with Håvard Volden in Nude on Sand with a self-titled album Nude on Sand released in 2012.

Writer

Jenny Hval published her novel the novel Perlebryggeriet in 2009. She has also published article works in journals and in anthologies, after studying literature and working as a freelance columnist and writer.
