Jamie Woon (born 1983) is a British singer, songwriter and producer signed to Polydor who gained widespread acclaim in 2010 for his single Night Air, following his previous independent release, Wayfaring Stranger EP.
The son of Celtic folk singer and backing artist Mae McKenna, he was born and raised in New Malden, Surrey. After attending the Brit School, he graduated the year behind Amy Winehouse, who he later supported live.[1]
Woon's sound and stylie is presently described as soul inflected vocals backed by samplers and programming, or a single guitar track.
On 4 January 2011, the BBC announced that Woon had been placed furth in the BBC's Sound of 2011 poll[1]
Woon's debut album is entitled Mirrorwriting and is to be released on 4 April 2011 via Polydor Records [2]
