Iron Man 2 is a 2010 video game loosely-based on the film of the same name. It will be released on May 4, 2010, days after the film's international release and days before the film's domestic release. The game is yet again published by Sega and developed by Sega Studios San Francisco (Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3), High Voltage Software (Wii & PlayStation Portable)[2] and Gameloft (Wireless)[3].

The game features the voices of Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson, reprising their roles from the movie.[4][5] Eric Loomis, the voice of Iron Man in the animated series, replaces Robert Downey, Jr. as Stark's voice. [6] Additionally, the game is written by The Invincible Iron Man scribe Matt Fraction.[7] and Sega creative director Kyle Brink [8]. The game also features an exclusive song recorded by Lamb of God, "Hit the Wall", along with a soundtrack composed with other bands.[9] War Machine is also playable.

The heroes feature Tony Stark / Iron Man, James Rhodes / War Machine, Nick Fury, Natasha Romanoff and J.A.R.V.I.S.. Villians include Advanced Idea Mechanics, Roxxon Energy Corporation, General Valentin Shatalov (who becomes the Crimson Dynamo), and scientist and former Stark employee Kearson DeWitt (who creates Ultimo)[10].

Plot

The game begins with Iron Man defending the Dataspine (an archived version of J.A.R.V.I.S.' stem code) from some attackers until an EMP bomb is dropped disabling Iron Man.

Three hours earlier, Tony Stark does a recording about how he has to stop people and their army of robots from disrupting it. He brings up Roxxon and how they try to copy the Iron Man armor. Tony is then interrupted by James Rhodes who says that there is some trouble at Stark Archives and instructs Tony to become Iron Man.

Back in the present, the power reserve in Iron Man's armor activates. Upon recovering, Iron Man learns that Roxxon is after the Dataspine. Iron Man decides that he should destroy the Dataspine to keep Roxxon from getting the archives. Outside, James in his War Machine armor intercepts some Roxxon Dropships. After Iron Man overloads the Dataspine, he and War Machine rendezvous with Pepper Potts.

While on the plane with War Machine and Pepper, Iron Man makes contact with S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury who informs him that separatists have seized control of the Tesla facility using a heavy battle platform. Iron Man has J.A.R.V.I.S. upload the canyon's defenses to S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents as the area has been overrun by General Valentin Shatalov's insurrectionists. During Iron Man's escorting of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s helicopter forces, they are attacked by the battle platform called the Roxxon Armiger. Nick Fury gives order to his men to let Iron Man handle the Roxxon Armiger. After destroying the Roxxon Armiger, Iron Man continues escorting the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicopter forces and eliminate the anti-air forces near a tunnel. Upon making it to a battle cruiser and disabling the security system, Iron Man ends up fighting another Roxxon Armiger. Afterwards, Iron Man destroys the battle cruiser, but Iron Man learns from War Machine that General Shatalov wasn't there.

Tony Stark and James Rhodes tell Nick Fury that Roxxon's Armigers were remote-controlled and that they need to find the source. Tony and James discover that General Shatalov is working with A.I.M. to create the Crimson Dynamo suit for him. Upon Tony and James learning that it's at a power manufacturing plant in Siberia, Nick Fury mentions that he positioned Natasha Romanoff to spy on the plant as Tony and James armor up.

At a power manufacturing plant owned by Roxxon, General Shatalov makes contact with A.I.M.'s Kearson DeWitt who tells General Shatalov that there is a spy in his ranks and is displeased that he brought S.H.I.E.L.D. to their front door. General Shatalov then gives orders to prep the Crimson Dynamo armor and then informs his men that their connection with A.I.M. is now severed. Iron Man arrives and confronts General Shatalov who unleashes robotic enemies on him which Iron Man defeats. After destroying the Tesla reactor stabilizers, Iron Man escapes and accesses the facility's subnet in order to look for Natasha. Iron Man then ends up protecting Natasha from General Shatalov's men after destroying another Roxxon Armiger. Iron Man then gets contact from Nick Fury that they are sending a transport to their location. When the S.H.I.E.L.D. Air Support arrives, Black Widow is extracted while Iron Man and War Machine are attacked by General Shatalov in his Crimson Dynamo armor. Iron Man and War Machine defeat General Shatalov who reveals that A.I.M. was behind the theft of J.A.R.V.I.S.' AI and planned to use it to create Ultimo. When General Shatalov succumbs to his injuries, Iron Man and War Machine suspect that A.I.M.'s threat assessment is bad now that they can use J.A.R.V.I.S. to create Ultimo and need to talk to Natasha on who was pulling General Shatalov's strings.

Pepper Potts and Natasha tell Tony that Kearson DeWitt was behind the attack led by General Shatalov and that he used to work at Stark Industries' Theoretical Weapons Division until Tony shut it down. Outside of Kearson working on the prototype to the Arc Reactor, Pepper also revealed that Kearson worked in Research and Development until he was fired when they discovered that his project called PROTEAN (short for Picotech Regenerative Ordinance with a Tactically Evolving Adaption Network) was considered dangerous. Meanwhile, Kearson is told by an A.I.M. Agent that the Arc Reactor is almost complete. What started out as PROTEAN became Ultimo as Kearson enters the large metal suit as he merges with it. Upon executing Operation: Daybreak, Kearson then has his men has his men upgrade all units with PROTEAN Implants.

As Iron Man and War Machine head out to find where Kearson is hiding out, they arrive where they find A.I.M. Agents being attacked by PROTEAN-upgraded drones. While War Machine takes on the drones, Iron Man heads out to find Kearson. After destroying the Arc Reactors, Iron Man manages to get the PROTEAN interference out of him with a S.H.I.E.L.D. Air Strike. Upon encountering a PROTEAN Hybrid, Iron Man ends up starting a shock assembly to recharge his armor. After using it to destroy the PROTEAN Hybrid, SHIELD moves in to secure the base. When they are unable to detect Kearson, J.A.R.V.I.S. ends up detecting an anomoly. When Ultimo ends up taking control of the armor and threatens to kill everyone close to him, Iron Man vows to defeat Ultimo.

When the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier is under attack, Pepper is grabbed by one of the robotic units and is saved by Iron Man. He then fights Kearson's drones in order to keep them from destroying the Helicarrier engines and his Airborne Armory.
