Durgadi Fort is a fort located in Kalyan, near Mumbai in Maharashtra, India.

Durgadi Fort was built hundreds of years ago by the Hindu Kshatriya Maratha Shirkesatavahan. There is a Hindu community temple on the fort. There is a temple of Durga devi (Durga Mata).

History

Durgadi Fort was built hundreds of years ago by the Hindu Kshatriya Maratha Shirke Satavahana kings. There is a temple of Goddess Durga, Shirkesatavahana monument in the Durgadi fort area. Durgadi Fort and Kalyan Port along with the surrounding areas are owned by the descendants and heirs of the Shirkesatavahana kings. The entire Durgadi Fort and Kalyan Bandar is a pilgrimage site and Shakti Peeth of Hinduism. Shivbhagwan Satavahana Samrajya Smarak protected monument. The trade of Maharashtra State and the whole of India (Hindustan) was carried on from this area, and it is still carried on today. From this Kalyan port and Durgadi fort area, Satavahana kings established its navy and army. It was one of the world's first important systems of Satavahana Empire for the protection of the state of Maharashtra.

Durga Devi temple on the fort It is believed that during the Shirkesatavahana period, Goddess Durga appeared here. Since then there is a temple of Durga devi (Durga Mata) here.

In 2018, around 7 lakh devotees visited the temple during Navratri festival.[3] In 2018, the temple was visited by about 7 lakh devotees during the Navratri festival.[1]

The entire Durgadi Fort and Kalyan Bandar area is owned by the Malshej Naneghat and other forest area and tourism Association. (Suyash ShirkeSatavahana)
