Swallow (Japanese: スワロー, commonly stylized in all caps), formerly known as No title (ノータイトル), is a 3-member band from Japan that debuted in 2017 under LINE RECORDS .
The trio group consisting of leader Haruto Anbe, Honoka Kudo, and Yuto Taneichi began their musical activities in September 2016. Before the last festival of the end of their junior high school life, Haruto Anbe wished to form a band and invited Honoka Kudo and Yuto Taneichi, who had attended the same elementary and junior high school, to form the impromptu band No title. They took a short break for their high school entrance exam, but after starting high school, they continued their band activities by performing sporadically in their hometown, posting videos of practice sessions, and entering rock festivals for teenagers.[citation needed]
In July 2017, the group entered the 2017 LINE Audition. In November, they were announced as the winners of the Grand Prize, both in the band category and overall.[citation needed]
On January 23, 2018, they released the song "rain stops, good-bye" as their debut from LINE RECORDS.[1] The song was produced by JIN , a music producer who has worked with GReeeeN and other groups. Soon after their debut, they released their first original song "Koete" (超えて) on June 25. The lyrics were written by and the song composed by No title themselves. Like in their previous work, JIN was in charge of production. However, the production team also included High speed boyz inc./Diosta inc. "Koete" was chosen as the theme song for the local Asahi Broadcasting Aomori Corporation's "2018 Mezase Kōshien" (めざせ甲子園2018, lit. '2018 Aim for Koshien')".[2] Also, Honoka Kudo was appointed as the "5th ABA Kōshien baseball tournament's image girl".[citation needed]
Honoka Kudo was selected as the featured vocalist for the theme song of the film "Aiuta - Yakusoku no Nakuhito" (愛唄 -約束のナクヒト-, lit. 'Aiuta: My Promise to Nakuhito') released on January 25, 2019. The song is based on GReeeeN's musical composition "Aiuta" (愛唄). JIN, who served as the film's producer, commented on the reason for selecting her: "この曲には曲の構成として女性の声が必要でした。そして、映画の内容を踏まえ、現役高校生のバンドに依頼をしました。", 'This song requires a female voice for its structure. And based on the content of the film, we entrusted the task to a band of high school students.'[3]
The band changed its name from No title to Swallow on June 1, 2020. They stated that their reasoning was "自由に自己表現していくことを追求するため" (lit. 'to pursue the freedom of self-expression').[4]
Haruto Anbe (born May 8) is the group's leader, main guitarist, and composer. He is an avid fan of Radwimps, Gesu no Kiwami Otome, and Sekai no Owari. His father's influence led him to play the guitar. He is the founder of No title (now Swallow), and co-wrote their 2nd single "Koete" with Yuto Taneichi. He composed the music for their 3rd single "Negaigoto" (ねがいごと).[citation needed]
Honoka Kudo (born November 8) is the vocalist, guitarist, and lyricist. A video of her singing Kenshi Yonezu's "Eine Kleine" at her high school cultural festival was uploaded to YouTube and garnered over 1 million views, which attracted significant attention. She is skilled at drawing, with many of her drawings appearing in the music video of their 3rd single "Negaigoto".[citation needed]
Yuto Taneichi (born May 2) is the keyboardist and composer. His trademark is a newsboy cap. He has three cats, and many photographs of them can be seen on his Instagram. He co-wrote their 2nd single "Koete" with Haruto Anbe.[citation needed]
