Sandra Kobanovitch, also known by the pseudonym Sandra-Jessica Koban (born in 1993 in Rueil-Malmaison, France), is a French director, photographer, and screenwriter.
Sandra Kobanovitch was born in 1993 in Rueil-Malmaison, France..[1].
Her life was marked by a traumatic childhood[1][2][3]. At the age of three, her mother became quadriplegic following a suicide attempt and died a year later[2]. With her father in prison, Sandra was left alone with her older sister who suffers from a mental disability. They were both raised by their maternal grandparents in Normandy[1][2][3].
In 2015, she produced her first short film: Scratch, the story of an encounter between a lost young woman and an elderly prostitute[4].
This first film was presented at the Short Film Corner of the Cannes Film Festival[5][6]. She also starred in her own film alongside Grégory Gatignol, known for his role in Les Choristes[4][1].
That same year, she met actor Samy Naceri at Cannes during the festival. She offered him the leading role in her next short film: Heliopsis, which deals with post-incarceration reintegration[7].
In 2016, Heliopsis was selected for the Women in Film festival[n 1] in Vancouver, Canada[8]. It won the "Best Cinematography Award" at the festival[9][10]
As a photographer, she won an award in 2024 in the Fine Art category at the TIFA (Tokyo International Foto Awards) in Japan[11][12].
