Playa San Juan Leighton (34°02′18″N 118°52′51″W / 34.038396°N 118.880931°W) is a secluded section of beach beneath the bluffs of Malibu on the Pacific Ocean in Malibu, Los Angeles, California, United States.[1] It is an unofficial "pocket beach" located within part of the Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beach.[2] The secret cove is located between La Piedra to the north, and El Matador to the South.[3][4]
There is no direct access to Playa San Juan Leighton. The land above the bluffs is privately owned and consists mostly of single-family residential homes. The only non-residential property in the vicinity is the Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 99, which is to the North along the California State Route 1. During high tide, the beach is inaccessible from the sand. The only way to get there (or out of there) is by climbing over the rocks to La Peidra.
Several films and movies have been filmed at the beach, including Baywatch,[5] HBO series Euphoria,[6] House of the Dragon,[7] and Westworld.[8]
