Jordi Urbea Castells (born June 6, 1970, in Sant Quirze de Besora, Barcelona) is a prominent figure in the field of digital marketing and advertising in Spain[1]. He currently holds the position of Senior Vice President of Ogilvy in Spain and serves as CEO of Ogilvy Barcelona.[2][3]
Urbea played a pivotal role in overseeing the digital transformation of Ogilvy Spain's operations in Barcelona[4]. Under his tenure, he facilitated the establishment of Ogilvy's international Customer Engagement & Data hub in Europe, as well as the implementation of Ogilvy Mobile and Ogilvy Upcelerator, recognized as the Ogilvy group's first startup accelerator globally[5]. This initiative is widely regarded as groundbreaking in the industry.[6]
Before joining Ogilvy, Urbea held various management positions in digital companies, including Servicom, EresMas, Wanadoo, and Intercom. In 1998, he founded the interactive agency Avatar e-Studios, which was later acquired by communications group Bassat Ogilvy & Mather in 1999. That same year, he assumed the role of CEO of Ogilvy Interactive, a position he held for five years.[7]
Urbea is a frequent speaker at conferences, universities[8], and institutions, where he shares insights into new trends in marketing, advertising, and digital transformation. He is often sought for expert opinions on national television and radio outlets concerning advertising matters[9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]. Urbea coordinates the master's degree in Direct and Digital Marketing[17] at Pompeu Fabra University and has authored several books, including "Éxito" (Grupo Planeta) and "Recrear, How to Win in the Game of Life" (Plataforma Editorial).
In "Éxito", Jordi Urbea, alongside Gabriel García de Oro, explores various issues related to business management and leadership. Drawing inspiration from leadership methodologies of renowned soccer coaches such as Pep Guardiola and Johan Cruyff, the book challenges conventional ideas about leadership, emphasizing the importance of inspiration, motivation, and teamwork in achieving business success.
"Recrear. How to Win at the Game of Life" invites readers to explore the human capacity to create and enjoy life to the fullest. Offering practical guidance based on neuroscience discoveries, the book encourages readers to actively participate in life's journey by recreating the most important aspects of their lives. Through short stories, anecdotes, and humor, Urbea engages readers in embracing life as an intense and rewarding game.[18]
