Submission declined on 8 August 2024 by Mgp28 (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

John E. Turrentine (born April 2, 1952 - July 8, 2024) in Atlanta, Georgia was an American medical doctor. He was known for coining the term Minimally Invasive Vaginal Hysterectomy (MIVH). The procedure allows the hysterectomy to be performed in less time and less recovery time than any other form of hysterectomy. [1] Turrentine invented MIVH and taught the procedure for Johnson & Johnson Endosurgery. [2][3] [4]
Turrentine first published MIVH in several of his books "Clinical Protocols in Obstetrics and Gynecology 2nd Edition" with illustrations on how to perform the procedure in 2003 after several thousand successful procedures then described the operation further in his book, "Surgical Transcriptions and Pearls in Obstetrics and Gynecology 2nd Edition," and with further illustrations in his book "Clinical Protocols in Obstetrics and Gynecology 3rd Edition." [4][5][6][7][8]
Turrentine began his college education at Shorter College in Georgia where he received a degree in Natural science in 1973.[2][3] He continued education at numerous institutions including University of Georgia where he performed biochemistry research on a NIH scholarship at Georgia Tech.[2][3] While in undergraduate education, he was inducted to the Beta Beta Beta and awarded Who’s Who Among Students in American colleges and universities.[2][4]
He went on to complete medical school at Medical College of Georgia in 1979.[2][3] [4] He pursued his medical internship in Los Angeles General Medical Center at University of Southern California followed by his time at the Atlanta Medical Center for obstetrician-gynecologist residency.
Afterwards he obtained his Doctorate of Ministry at Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary in 2004.[2][3] He was ordained by Faith Christian Fellowship Church, Inc. He set up many jungle mission trips for Operation Touch and was a guest minister at many churches throughout Carolinas and Georgia (U.S. state). He received a PhD in American Revolutionary History from Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary in 2015.
Turrentine completed his MBA at University of Texas at Dallas in 2020 and was inducted into Golden Key International Honour Society and Beta Gamma Sigma Society. He was certified by the Alliance for Physicians Healthcare Leadership and Management. [2][3][4]
Turrentine received multiple recognitions during his studies from Phi Alpha Theta and was twice awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and Silver Roger Sherman Medal from from Sons of the American Revolution. It was during this time that he published “Defining the Founding Fathers/Spirituality Examined.”[9][10][4]
Turrentine died on July 8, 2024. He is survived by his sons, daughters and grandchildren. [4]
