Homixide Gang is an American hip-hop duo originating from Atlanta, Georgia, formed by members, Homixide Beno! and Homixide Meechie.[1] In 2021, they released their debut extended plays, Snotty World and a deluxe version of it. It was confirmed as of April 12, 2022 that the duo is signed to Playboi Carti's Opium label.[1] Homixide Gang is affiliated with fellow labelmates Destroy Lonely and Ken Carson, but also has ties to the East Atlanta Homixide street gang, and its affiliates including the likes of R5 Homixide, ProblemChild5, and Future.[2]
Keyon Thomas and Demetrius Chatman, known as Homixide Beno! and Homixide Meechie respectively[3], are allegedly members of the East Atlanta Homixide street gang, due to the shared "Homixide" moniker that all members identify by. In an interview, both Thomas and Chatman state that they have been longtime friends with labelhead, Playboi Carti, having "been around".[4] Carti revealed that he has been well acquainted with the duo for "last three years".[1]
Homixide Gang share a similar style with their fellow labelmates, Ken Carson and Destroy Lonely. However, their presence as a duo allows them to deliver two unique vocal sounds. Typically, Homixide Beno! will deliver the chorus of the song, while Homixide Meechie will deliver the verse(s). Their production is heavily inspired by Playboi Carti's christmas album, Whole Lotta Red, particularly songs where F1lthy and Lil Slatt were the producers.[5]
On October 14, 2022, George Chidi of the Atlanta Objective reported that the Atlanta DA is considering filing racketeering charges against the Homixide street gang, due to the increasing attention the gang is drawing to themselves in their feud with another Bloods gang, Henxhmen, indicating that there is "a trail of dead and jailed rappers all through this beef".[2]
