Callum Aaron McGinley (born 11 March 1992), better known as Callux, is a British YouTuber[2][3] and co-founder of notwoways, a North London-based sneaker label, and After Party Studios, a London-based production company.
Callum Aaron McGinley[4][5][6] was born on 11 March 1992.[7] He described his childhood as "not the best". Growing up with seperated parents, he and his mother had to live in a council estate in East London.[8]
At around the age of 4–5, McGinley had leukemia for two years.[8][9]
McGinley attended Christ's Hospital School in the south of Horsham, West Sussex, from September 2003 to July 2010.[10][11]
McGinley created his YouTube channel, Callux, in 2012. McGinley primarily uploaded pranks, vlogs, public interviews, and challenge videos such as "Staying in Quietest Room in The World Until I Went Crazy", in which McGinley went viral for trying to break the record for the longest time spent in a quiet room.[12][13]
McGinley is known for his association with the Sidemen, a British YouTube collective consisting of seven YouTube personalities, and has appeared in their YouTube videos.[3][5] He has participated in all five of the Sidemen's charity football matches between 2016 and 2023.[14][15]
In 2020, McGinley and Rockwell Princely, a brand designer, launched notwoways, a North London-based sneaker brand.[16][17][18] The brand released its first sneaker drop, "exuberance", in August 2020, which sold out 750 pairs in 63 seconds and helped the brand establish a following.[19][20][21] On 28 November 2020, the brand released its second sneaker drop, "moonless", which sold out 2,100 pairs in 186 seconds.[22][23][21] In January 2021, Hypebeast, a digital media company focused on covering fashion and streetwear culture, picked notwoways as one of eight brands to look out for in 2021.[23]
In 2016, McGinley, director RVBBERDUCK, and Base 79 founder Richard Mansell founded After Party Studios, a production company based in London. The studio focuses on creating original, branded, and social content that bridges the gap between mainstream and online entertainment.[24][25]
In 2018, the studio produced KSI: Can't Lose, a documentary film that reveals behind the scenes what led YouTuber KSI to become the YouTube champion of the world after his boxing debut fight against fellow YouTube star Joe Weller.[26][5]
McGinley is a supporter of Arsenal F.C.[27]
Between 2014 and 2019, McGinley was in a relationship with English singer and songwriter Sarah Close. On 12 October 2019, McGinley and Close announced on a YouTube video that they had ended their relationship.[28]
McGinley has become an advocate for mental health. In 2022, he partnered with Movember and uploaded a series of videos on YouTube to raise awareness about men's mental health.[29]
