Chinatown is an upcoming 2011 Malayalam-language multi-starrer film featuring Mohanlal, Jayaram and Dileep in the lead roles, and Pradeep Rawat, Captain Raju, Kavya Madhavan, Poonam Bajwa, Dipasha, Shankar, Shanavas, Jose, Jagathi Sreekumar, Maya Viswanath, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Bindu Asokan, Lakshmi and Deepu Karunakaran in supporting roles.[1] Written and directed by the duo Rafi Mecartin, it portrays the story of love and friendship of three friends who were in the various fields of life. The film is slated for a release on 15 April 2011.[2][3]
The sons of three friends who were parted twenty years ago are joining together for a particular aim. China Town is a story of two generations. The sons of first generation are Mohanlal, Dileep and Jayaram. Their fathers were very sincere friends before 20 years ago. But their sons are parted in different ways. Later they combine together to execute an aim after 20 years. Malayalam actor- director Shankar, old actor Jose and Mohanlal are playing the characters of old sincere friends in first generation. Mohanlal is handling two roles again as father and son after Ravanaprabhu and Udayon.
China Town also describes the story about love and relationships over the religions. The combination of sons in second generation turns the story of China Town. It will be anywhere in the world. In America, Europian nations even in India there is china town. Kolkata is the Indian China Town where opium (Karuppu in malayalam) which is very famous in world markets, was always available. Later it was prohibitted by Government.
In Rafi- Mecartin's China Town is in Goa, the only one place where gambling is going on as legally in India. This gambling center Is the place of all leaders and under world mafia. The story is moving aroud this gambling center. When the three friends from the three different areas in Kerala are reaching in the gambling center, the story will reach in turning point.
Chinatown started its production on 20 December 2010.[4] The filming occurred mainly at the Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad. The set made by art director Boban reportedly at the cost of ₹35 lakhs, is one of the costliest sets in Malayalam cinema. Some parts were filmed from Ooty , Goa and Ernakulam.[5][6] The film's production is in the final stages.
The film's soundtrack is composed by Jassie Gift. The lyrics are by Anil Panachooran and Santhosh Varma. The audio release function was held at Kadavu Resorts, Kozhikode, on 2 March 2011.
