Black Sea is an upcoming 2014 British adventure thriller film directed by Kevin Macdonald and written by Dennis Kelly.[2] The film stars Jude Law, Scoot McNairy, Karl Davies, and Konstantin Khabensky. The film is scheduled for release in the United Kingdom on 5 December 2014 and in the United States on 23 January 2015.[3]
On 14 February 2012, news confirmed that director Kevin Macdonald is working with writer Dennis Kelly on his new film project Black Sea.[2] On 25 April 2013, Focus Features acquired the international distribution rights to the film for Cannes Film Festival.[6]
On 25 April 2013, Jude Law joined the cast of Black Sea as a lead actor, he will play the role of an unemployed submarine captain hired by some shady folks to find a sunken treasure.[4] Scoot McNairy also joined the cast of the film with Law on 17 June 2013 in the role of an American who convinces the captain to undertake a mission.[5]
On 8 August 2013, Focus Features CEO James Schamus and co-CEO Andrew Karpen announced that the shooting of the film Black Sea has started in the United Kingdom.[7][8] The production is filming the scenes on the River Medway in Strood.[9][10]
On 2 July 2014, Focus Features announced that the film will be released on 23 January 2015 in the United States.[3]
