Anthea Turner (born May 25, 1960) is a British television personality.

Career

One of her earliest TV roles was as a presenter on the short-lived Saturday morning children's show UP2U. The show was not a major hit, and is chiefly remembered today for an incident in which Turner was badly burned by faulty pyrotechnics.

She later became famous presenting the children's television show Blue Peter. Around this time she was also associated with publicising The Y Plan, a system of exercise developed by the London YMCA. She then moved on to presenting the ITV morning television show GMTV, as well as the first National Lottery draw on BBC1 in 1994, and the ITV travel show Wish You Were Here...?.

In 1998 her present husband, Grant Bovey, left his wife Della for Anthea, then reconciled with Della, before leaving her again. Grant and Anthea eventually married in August 2000. Anthea received more bad publicity, after photographs of the wedding reception (published in OK! magazine) showed her (apparently) publicizing a new chocolate bar. The Sun described it as 'the most sickening wedding photo ever'.

In 2001, Anthea appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, and was the third contestant to be evicted.

In 2003, she came 15th in a Channel 4 poll of 100 Worst Britons.

In February 2006, she made a television comeback on BBC Three in Anthea Turner: Perfect Housewife, where she taught disorganised housewives how to iron towels and prepare perfect canapés, amongst other accomplishments.

Personal life

Her private life has made her a tabloid staple. She was married to the British DJ Peter Powell (who was also her manager) and romantically involved with British DJ Bruno Brookes.

In 1998 her present husband, Grant Bovey, left his wife Della for Anthea, then reconciled with Della, before leaving her again. Grant and Anthea eventually married in August 2000. Anthea received more bad publicity, after photographs of the wedding reception published in OK! magazine in an exclusive £300,000 deal, showed the couple (apparently) publicizing a new Cadbury chocolate bar Snowflake. OK! magazine issued the photo to the media with this caption: ANTHEA TURNER AND GRANT BOVEY exclusive OK! wedding photograph, enjoying Cadbury's new Snowflake. For the complete wedding coverage and a free Cadburys Snowflake, buy OK! magazine this weekend. OK! First for celebrity news. The Sun described it as 'the most sickening wedding photo ever' [1]

Anthea and Grant live in Dunsfold, Surrey.
