Amer Iqbal, Ph.D., is a Pakistani theoretical physicist and one of the leading string theorist in the world. He is renowned for his work and interests in string theory, mathematical physics, and exploring the connections between mathematics and physics, particularly the string theory and complex geometry.[1] He is the professor of Physics and Chairman of the Department of Physics at the School of Science and Engineering at the Lahore University of Management Sciences.[2] Previously, he had served as a Professor of Mathematics at the School of Mathematics, and currently serving as a senior academic scientist, as adjutant faculty member, at the National Center for Nuclear Physics.[3]

Biography

Iqbal studied in Pakistan Army Public School of Karachi where he excelled in Physics and Mathematics. With an scholarship awarded by the Government, Iqbal traveled to United States to study physics and engineering.[4] Iqbal is a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he gained his double B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics.[4]{ He proceeded his further higher education by gaining M.S. in Mathematical physics and a Doctorate in Theoretical physics from the same institution.[4]{ He carried out his doctoral research under the renowned and world acclaimed string theorist professor Barton Zwiebach.[4]{
