Did you know that 15% of the biographies on Wikipedia are about women? Not impressed? Women in Red (WiR) focuses on "content gender gap". If you'd like to help contribute articles on women and women's works, we warmly welcome you!
Anyone can take part whatever your previous experience. We hope both inexperienced and seasoned editors will join us in creating biographies of some of the many past and present notable APA women who are still red-linked on the English Wikipedia. A virtual edit-a-thon will allow enthusiasts from around the globe to participate in the work.
The main goals of the edit-a-thon are:
to encourage inexperienced editors and show them how they can contribute to Wikipedia by creating biographies of some of the world's most prominent women
to draw the attention of more experienced editors to the need for concerted action on a specific area
to support Wikipedia in combating the systemic bias against the coverage of women and women's works
