Welcome![edit]

Hello, Victor666vv, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was John Lamb Lash, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place ((Help me)) before the question. Again, welcome! Please this is same weird for me, could be the word is "ridicolous". Who better than I (friend of the person John Lash) can write with objectivity? This is incredible even for me...In regard to multiple accounts is a problem of wikipedia that allows to create an account without email confirmation. This happened with my account: "Victor Vallant". That I used to write the first time. I used a password but now it doesn't work, and I have lost my first account...Victor666vv (talk) 12:13, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
what you wrote here is much, much stronger than just being a friend of Nash. Jytdog (talk) 12:51, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion[edit]

Information icon This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident in which you may be involved. Thank you. Joseph2302 (talk) 12:29, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Could be is a subjetive view of my contribution. What reason disallow me to write real data in a page? I don't have any conflic of interest with John Laamb Lash. I only tried to arrange in the better manner his wiki page. If this there is some kind of conflict is only in wikipedia rules... Wher is the rule that say: "people close (friend or representative) to a person of interest (this is the case of John Lash) cannot write in the person's page...". Show me this rule please, I'm newer in this affairs and could be, This is not the right place to do this work. Thank you.Victor666vv (talk) 12:05, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple accounts?[edit]

Are you the same person as Special:Contributions/88.13.49.1 and Special:Contributions/Victor_Vallant? Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 12:38, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes the first was by error, and Victor Vallant is an account that I used to start a wikipedia cobtributions but it seems that the password (I used) is incorrect and I can't use this account, because I didn't use an e-mail for this account. Sorry for the confusion...Victor666vv (talk) 11:59, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

that's OK. What would be very helpful, would be if you would add some content to your user page here User:Victor666vv that says "I formerly used the account [{user:Victor Vallant]] but I lost the password for that account. I also have edited under the IP address User:88.13.49.1". and be sure to login when you edit going forward. While I am talking about your userpage, you should also disclose your conflict of interest there. I'll talk more about that below, but please consider also adding something like: "I am working on an authorized biography of John Lamb Lash" Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 14:03, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest in Wikipedia[edit]

Hi Victor666vv. I am writing to you in response to your comment here. As others have written to you, nobody "owns"] any wikipedia article, and you do not have the right to demand anything here. All of us have to abide by the key content policies WP:NPOV, WP:OR, and WP:VERIFY and all of us are bound by all the community's policies and guidelines for content and behavior. Editors who continually violate policies and guidelines get thrown out of here - editing WP is a privilege freely offered to all, but it is a privilege that can be lost.

One of our key guidelines is about conflict of interest (COI). See WP:COI.

You have a clear COI with regard to John Lamb Lash. I'm giving you notice of our Conflict of Interest guideline and Terms of Use, and will have some comments and questions for you below.

Information icon Hello, Victor666vv. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

Comments/questions

Wikipedia is a scholarly project, and like all scholarly endeavors, managing conflict of interest is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it. Please do read the links in the notice above (especially the link at "conflict of interest"), and please follow them. These policies and guidelines exist to ensure the integrity of Wikipedia; the community takes them seriously and we ask you to as well.

Wikipedia highly values contributions by subject matter experts; at the same time, experts have some special challenges when they first start editing here. Please see the essay with advice for experts, WP:EXPERTS, which discusses both sides of that coin. One of the challenges is related to conflicts of interest (COI). You may be familiar with that concept from your real world work, but it has some interesting twists here in Wikipedia, since we allow editors to be anonymous here. Please do read WP:COI, especially the section on Writing about yourself and your work.

Briefly, conflict of interest is managed in Wikipedia in two steps: disclosure of the conflict, and offering edits on the Talk page for others to review instead of directly editing the article.

Disclosure first: you have already disclosed your relationship to John Lamb Lash on that article's Talk page. To make that disclosure complete, we need two things. The first is to make the disclosure on your User page, (here: User:Victor666vv), which I already mentioned above. Second, you should make sure that you disclose your COI on the Talk pages of all articles you edit, where the COI is present. An easy way to do this, is to simply include a link to the COI disclosure on your User page in your signature, which you can customize in the preferences for your account. See User:Middle 8 for an example. We can also handle this by using the "Connected contributor" tag in the headers of the talk page. The third alternative is to simply note your COI when you make comments on Talk pages. In any case, would you please add the disclosure to your User page?

Peer review step. What we ask editors with a COI to do, is offer suggestions on the Talk page for others to review instead of directly editing the article. Going forward, please do not directly edit articles where you have a COI, but rather offer suggestions at the article's Talk page. You can do that easily - and provide notice to the community of your request - by using the "edit request" function as described in the conflict of interest guideline. I made that easy for you by adding a section to the beige box at the top of the Talk page - there is a link at "click here" in that section -- if you click that, the Wikipedia software will automatically format a section in which you can make your request. Would you please do that going forward?

Please let me know if you will do those two things. If you want to discuss anything, you can reply here. I am "watching" this page and will see your reply. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 14:11, 29 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
