My understanding is that we can't - not shouldn't, but can't - permanently block an IP number the way the code now works. Feel free to try though :) -- Pakaran 06:24, 9 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Hi Hephaestos, as you have contributed to Baseball/temp, I'd like to ask for your opinion whether it's time to move the rewritten article to Baseball. Please comment at Talk:Baseball/temp. Thanks, Kosebamse 16:56, 9 Dec 2003 (UTC)
The title of the Beazley article has already been changed several times by various pedantic busybodies. As far as I can see no version is any better or worse than any other, so why don't you just leave it alone? Adam 07:42, 10 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Yes well I suppose that is fair enough - I just get sick of these circular arguments - pretty soon PMelvilleAustin or someone will come and change it back again, and so on... Adam 08:04, 10 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Why skipped the redirect? [1] My understanding is that it is the same to the computer (i.e., not one is slower or more damage than the other). And actually redir is easier on the original writer. Just curious, because I occasionally see other Wikipedians skip redir. And never understood why. --Menchi (Talk)â 08:27, 10 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Since you made the moves, can you fix all the redirects at the Kim Beazley articles? --Jiang | Talk 22:18, 10 Dec 2003 (UTC)
If you have a reason for removing the background of Image:Drumsfeld.jpg, then please discuss it. --Jiang | Talk 23:44, 10 Dec 2003 (UTC)
I don't see how it is POV. That flag is the official standard of the Sec of Defense. It reflects his position in the government. Is the American flag POV here too: Image:DianneFeinstein.jpg, Image:Jimmycarter.jpg? I really don't see your point, but if you insist on changing it, fill it in with a non-white background so it doesn't blend in with the page. --Jiang | Talk 23:56, 10 Dec 2003 (UTC)
And this Image:Geraldford.jpg too? --Jiang | Talk 00:09, 11 Dec 2003 (UTC)
I noticed you didn't change all the MediaWiki pages I edited. Was that intentional? In any case, do you think "< View article" would look better than just "< Article"? I think some additional emphasis for the links would be useful, although they probably shouldn't be in that part of the navigation bar in the first place.—Eloquence 07:37, Dec 11, 2003 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing the Elizabeth Smart redirects. Daniel Quinlan 04:23, Dec 12, 2003 (UTC)
I'm glad we were able to come to an understanding about Lizzie. I do have one small remaining issue about the chosen title format, but this won't be the place where I take a stand on it. The format for the date should probably "(1987- )" with the extra space, instead of "(1987-)". There are too many other matters at issue to get involved in that relatively trivial debate. I've liked the AACR disambiguation format since long before I ever heard of Wikipedia. The simple fact that this solution arose as a compromise in settlement of another dispute may make it more acceptable, but don't be suprised if flak is raised by a whole new group of people. ☮ Eclecticology 08:03, 2003 Dec 12 (UTC)

He claims in Wikipedia, that some Polish or Russian areas, are rightfully German and are under occupation. Do we want to start again border disputes in Europe?? WolfgangPeters
Based on, what you stated yourself, it seems to be irresponsible to give you the rights to edit articles in Wikipedia. Attempt to violate existing borders is a crime in every state. WolfgangPeters
Hi Hephaestos, in case you didn't know - the above text is exactly the same as that which appears on the Wikipedia:Current disputes over articles page. I got it on my talk too, for some reason I have yet to fathom. :) Angela. 20:08, 15 Dec 2003 (UTC)

If it isn't too much trouble, could you please remove Image:Simu title.png. That was a bit of a blunder. I'll upload a smaller jpg file instead. :) -- Emperorbma 09:38, 18 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Yes. Still, it's a matter of some regret to me that I have to have stuff like LeAnn Rimes, Paul Levesque, etc on my watchlist. :-) Evercat 02:07, 19 Dec 2003 (UTC)
I removed your disambig pages for Adams, Massachusetts and Lenox, Massachusetts. The reason is that there's no ambiguity: it's not true that there are "two locales" called Adams, Massachusetts. There's only one locale, but only a subset of it designated by the census as a CDP. In other words, I don't think Adams (CDP), Massachusetts and Adams (town), Massachusetts actually constitute two different locales, inasmuch as the CDP is merely part of the town. Rather than having a disambig page, I put a link to the CDP page on the town page, and have the bald name redirect to the town. This is my reasoning, anyway, but I'm willing to be argued with. Hey, I'm happy to help out with such a huge archive of STUFF! This site is just incredible.
I moved the feynman quotes over to WikiQuotes. It's pretty annoying that the accounts aren't active on both sites.. :\
Ah well. Have a good one.
You'll need to explain to me exactly what that entails. I know a lot about history but not very much about software and such :) Adam 04:03, 20 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Your redirect is fine with me. It doesn't particularly matter to me whether "Shirley (town), Massachusetts" redirects to "Shirley, Massachusetts" or vice versa; when I set up the redirects I generally do whichever is more convenient -- i.e., I leave the existing page where it is and turn the blank page into a redirect to the existing one -- but I have no objection to someone reversing those redirects. I note you have been going around putting ampersand-mdash-semicolon into articles, something I can't think of any good reason for not minimizing.
ASCII is more universally readable, and colons, ellipses, etc. as well as double hyphens can generally have the desired semantic effect.(I'm told that my efforts to make the link to First Division in Derby County F.C. had the completely unintended effect of affecting "mdash" insertion there,so the use of this HTML markup would appear to break browser compatibility with Lynx.--L.E./le@put.com/12.144.5.2

Thank you. I will try to find more appropriate photos then. Perhaps the unenhanced versions, if I can find them.
In the IBook revision of 21 December 2003, you added a smaller photo of the 17 inch PowerBook. I have moved it to the PowerBook article. BTW, since you seem to deal with a lot of Mac hardware, what's the proper way to refer to a apple Model? I current have the iBook (Early 2003) with a 900 MHZ CPU. Hello,
Letting you know that I asked Tim to block 204.96.197.145 (a static address used by Michael) for 1 month since Michael was coming back after the 24 hours of normal blocks wore off. To implement this block he changed the timestamp on the last person to block that address, which happened to be you. I thought you might wonder how you managed to build a time machine and went to March 1 to block Michael, all without realizing it. Maximus Rex 01:26, 1 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up. I re-replied. RickK 19:35, 1 Feb 2004 (UTC)
I think you should have been desysoped and banned, John. That was really a sort of behavior Wikipedia can not accept! Hopefully, you do not do such things again. 66.36.249.149 01:52, 2 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Unlike you, I do not have a tendancy to curse on the wiki, and prefer to preserve civility. What you have just done was unnecessarilly unhelpful, and not in accordance with policy. Review Wikipedia:How to archive a talk page. Jack 08:52, 2 Feb 2004 (UTC)
I doubt the current vote on your sysop privlidges will go the right way, but I can see now that you are a rogue cannon, and will be keeping an eye on you. I personally doubt you will be able to refrain from increasingly vulger displays of power. Jack 09:03, 2 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Yes, I have a very lengthy task to convert maybe 600 pics to the new code. However, I've just read somewhere on WP that the new code is buggy in Opera (I have IE) so it may be best not to convert any more pics for a while until that's resolved. So I'm carrying on with the old code for the moment. Thanks for your thoughts, Best Wishes, Adrian Pingstone 15:11, 4 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Dear Hephaestos, you just blocked an account of a person who expressed an opinion in a wrong place, without leaving a warning/explaining message in the users talk page. I actually think that's probably a sock-puppet but we dont know that, or do you? Muriel 16:14, 4 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Hi, is there some sort of clash between tables and the new image markup? The image on American Cocker Spaniel seems to have got squashed over a bit with your change. I am guessing that the image width is somehow not influencing the table width as it should. What do you think? -- sannse 17:14, 4 Feb 2004 (UTC)
