Hi Forty two, any chance you could jump in and fill out some of the gaps in In the news? (E.g. the editing workshops story still needs a first half.) Or write a summary of the Pending changes evaluation and straw poll for News and notes, if you don't feel too involved? It would help a lot in getting this issue published; it is running late because of these two sections. Regards, HaeB (talk) 18:54, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
Hi there. Thanks for uploading File:Logo of Symbiosis International University.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 05:19, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on File:Logo of Symbiosis International University.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding ((hangon))
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi. As you recently commented in the straw poll regarding the ongoing usage and trial of Pending changes, this is to notify you that there is an interim straw poll with regard to keeping the tool switched on or switching it off while improvements are worked on and due for release on November 9, 2010. This new poll is only in regard to this issue and sets no precedent for any future usage. Your input on this issue is greatly appreciated. Off2riorob (talk) 23:34, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

I suppose I should've timed this message at 10:10:10 too, but frankly, I can't be arsed. You know how it is.
Did you know... that tenten in Japaense writing are a little wiggly thing, a bit like a quotation-mark, which makes e.g. "ka" (か) into "ga" (が) or "fu" (ふ) into "bu" (ぶ) ?
So, take time out to have a bit of a giggle.

Hello. You recently added a citation to a book from the "Webster's Quotations, Facts and Phrases" series published by Icon Group International to this article. Unfortunately, Icon Group International is not a reliable source - their books are computer-generated, with most of the text copied from Wikipedia (most entries have [WP] by them to indicate this, see e.g. [2]).
I've only removed the reference, not the text it was referencing. A lot of similar references have been removed as they are circular references; many other editors have also been duped by these sources. Despite giving an appearance of reliability, the name "Webster's" has been public domain since the late 19th century. Another publisher to be wary of as they reuse Wikipedia articles is Alphascript Publishing. Fences&Windows 22:44, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Howdy, Online Ambassador!
This is a quick message to all the ambassadors about marking and tracking which articles students are working on. For the classes working with the ambassador program, please look over any articles being worked on by students and make sure these things are taken care of (especially for classes that aren't working with mentors):
And of course, don't forget to check in on the students, give them constructive feedback, praise them for positive contributions, award them ((The WikiPen)) if they are doing excellent work, and so on. And if you haven't done so, make sure any students you are mentoring are listed on your mentor profile.
Thanks! --Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 18:30, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi Forty two, thanks for leaving a message on my talk page, and it's exciting to hear that you're in Pune! Are you interested in being a Campus Ambassador in Pune? I totally encourage you to apply if you are - more details about the Campus Ambassador role is here, and more information about how to apply is here. As you probably already know, we are facing some problems at MOTD. I am personally monitoring all the nominations on a daily basis and I'm finding very difficult to aprove the motto for the next day. The number of nominations has grown significantly, but even then it seems not enough. Please, if you have time, take a look at the nominations. And, if you like some of them but you think they are not good enough for being approved because of the set of links or and etcetera, please, try to improve them where it is possible. At this rate, I fear that we will see the end of the project. Thanks in advance.
I have also added a special nomination for this Sunday, 1st of May (International Workers' Day or May Day). Please, take a look at it if you can.
All the best. –pjoef (talk • contribs) 15:07, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Okay, I'm here again to bother you (again and again... sorry). Things seem to go much better at MOTD, right now. THANK YOU!!!
The reason why I'm writing you is the following: next Sunday (8th of May) is Mother's Day. I know that it is celebrated on different days around the world, but I'd love if we could (and are able to) make our "very-little" contribution in honour of all the mothers in the world. For the upcoming 8th of May (Sunday) there is already a motto in schedule, but I think that we can move the motto approved for that day to another date and to put one about mothers in place of it. Here is my nomination.
Thank you in advance and all the best! –pjoef (talk • contribs) 12:51, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
The MOTD Barnstar | ||
I award the MOTD Barnstar to Forty two for helping to keep our project "alive" during this difficult time. Without you and your so precious help and contributions, we all probably would have seen the end of this project. A BIG THANK YOU!!! –pjoef (talk • contribs) 19:40, 3 May 2011 (UTC) |
A brief note, please, read it carefully, especially the last part in bold: The last time we (our project) gave awards to our (its) members on last Summer, then the number of new nominations and reviews of the existing nominations has been diminishing. The end result was the "April crisis" with no mottos for about an entire week. On the contrary, I hope this award will help to maintain our level high or, at least, appropriate to its needs, the needs of our project. I think that around 10 minutes a week to "devote" to the project, when it is possible of course, should be more than enough to achieve the desired result.
Of course, I gave you this award personally, in a personal way and not in the name of the project. This is just a way to say a BIG thank you, so, refrain from returning the award to me or I would be overwhelmed by stars and banners and it is not my intention to "profit" on this, really! Please, do NOT return the award! And, there is no need to thank me, it was my pleasure.
Thanks again (I think I can speak for all the contributors to MOTD) and all the very best!!! –pjoef (talk • contribs) 19:40, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
