COI check

Hello DownTownRich. Do you have any links with the companies whose articles you edit? Cheers 1292simon (talk) 00:48, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Which ones specifically? DownTownRich (talk) 12:22, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The ones in this list please. Cheers, 1292simon (talk) 08:49, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No I do not have any links with the organizations, even when I edit I make sure that most of the information I add or edit is from valuable sources and viable to Wikipedia. If an article I think deserves to be on Wikipedia but I find not much information of value on it I make it a stub to allow other editors to add on to it. Every time I do this I make sure that I am neutral while at it. DownTownRich (talk) 16:55, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Rich, that is great to hear. Your aims to add sources and maintain neutrality are very commendable. Happy editing! Cheers, 1292simon (talk) 09:28, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DownTownRich. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:DownTownRich. The template ((Paid)) can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: ((paid|user=DownTownRich|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName)). If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Template:Z159 Liz Read! Talk! 03:08, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, DownTownRich,
This notice is just posted because of the discussion on your talk page. If you are being compensated for editing on Wikipedia or are editing here as part of your employment, you must post a disclosure on your user page. If you have questions, please visit the Teahouse. You also might consider joining the deletion discussions for pages you have created, some of the notices you have removed from your talk page. Liz Read! Talk! 03:11, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Liz there is definitely not paid contribution done by me to any Wikipedia article I have contributed to as to clear that out and put it out of the way. I had previously been editing micro nations articles along side those ones starting off with Liberland and created similar categories and tag, fellow editors suggested there was no need to create them as of yet similar to those above. Being the case I support the deletion as you have tagged the templates and the wiki project. The goal was to create a space where editors interested in the topic could discuss and help link the articles together. DownTownRich (talk) 01:07, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
