Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan is an eminent Classical & Ghazal Vocalist of India. He hails from a small city Rampur Sahaswan Gharana which is geographically located in the Northern part of India . He is son of Padmashri Late Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan & grandson of Padma Bhushan Ustad Mushtaq Husain Khan. He was trained for Hindustani classical Music under the worthy guidance of his late grandfather Ustad Ghulam Jafar Khan who was an eminent Sarangi player of India. His father late Padmashri Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan, who was a great Classical Vocalist of India & he was later an inspiration for the son.

Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan was born in Kanpur in a reputed family of Hindustan Classical Musicians known as Rampur Sahaswan Gharana.

Career

Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan started his career at the age of 17 when he started singing classical vocal with Late Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan. Apart from classical he also started singing Ghazal in different youth festival in Delhi University & got over 100 prizes in Inter college & Inter University Music Competition. In 1985, he started performing professionally in India & abroad. He has performed in various Hindustani Classical Festivals like ‘Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Yadgar Sabha’, ‘Rag Rang Festival’, ‘Silsila Festival’, ‘Sangeet Natak Academy Concerts & so on. In 2007, he performed at Rashtrapati Bhavan (President House of India) in front of Honorable President of India Late Shri A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

In Ghazal singing he performed in concerts globally named like ‘Ghalib Rang’ based on the poetic work of Mirza Ghalib, ‘Sheeshon ka Maseeha’ based on poetic work of Faiz Ahmed Faiz ‘Naya Shiwala’ based on the poetic work of Allama Iqbal ‘Khazana Ghazal Festival’ and many more to name. He has numerous recordings on Doordarshan & Zee-TV. He has released more than 15 albums of Hindustani Classical Vocal, Ghazal, Sufi & Bhajans with prestigious record labels of India like Times Music He has also composed music for Bollywood films titled ‘Ek tha dil ek thi dhadkan & Jana let’s fall in love. He also composed Ghazal albums for Pankaj Udhas, Hariharan, Jaspinder Narula & Suresh Wadkar. He has created many compositions in Hindustan Classical Vocal, Ghazal. Recently, he has created a new Raga in Hindustan Classical Music named Mohini Bhairav.
