This is a documentation subpage for Template:Barnalt. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

This template should always be substituted (i.e., use ((subst:Barnalt))).

This template must be substituted. Overwrite the old image name (including the brackets and prefix) with ((subst:barnalt|newname=x|oldname=y)).

• newname: the name, including prefix (file: or image:) and extension (such as .png) of the alternative image.
• oldname: the name, including prefix (file: or image:) and extension (such as .png) of the original image.
• newsize: the size of the new image, including px. Default is 100px.
• oldsize: the size of the old image, including px. Default is 100px.

Then, when using the barnstar template, "|alt" will cause the alternative image to be used.

Please add Barnstars which use this template to Category:Wikipedia barnstar templates with alternative versions. This is done automatically with ((barnalt/usagenote)).

• This template only works with images. See ((Alternative)) for more options.
• This template fails if the second unnamed parameter is already taken. To bypass this problem, subst this template normally, then change the (({2))} parameter to one number after the last named parameter.
