Miss Grand Germany is a national beauty pageant title awarded to German representatives competing at the Miss Grand International pageant.[1][2][3] The titleholders from 2013 to 2019 were all appointed by different franchise holders; no respective national pageant was held.[1][4][5] From 2020 to 2023, the Miss Grand Germany titleholders were elected through a national contest, Miss From Germany, headquartered in Duderstadt.[6]
The highest and only placement reached by German representatives at the Miss Grand International pageant is the final 20,[7] obtained by Luisa Victoria Malz in 2021.[7][8]
Germany debuted in the Miss Grand International pageant in 2013;[9] from 2013 to 2018, all the country's representatives were appointed;[4][10][5] all of them were Miss Germany finalists.[11][12][13] In 2019, the license was acquired by a model agency based in Duderstadt, Leandro Aponte Model Scouting, which was managed by Venezuelan singer and model trainer Leandro Aponte, who later ran the first national contest, Miss From Germany, to select German candidates for Miss Grand International in 2020.[6]
In his first year as national director, due to a short time of preparation, Aponte's first affiliated titleholder was instead appointed;[1] the national pageant, Miss From Germany, was run the following year.[6] Since the mentioned national contest allowed all women to participate regardless of marital status, the winner, in some cases, might not meet the international pageant criteria, and the runner-up will instead be sent to compete internationally, causing Aponte to label his contest Miss From Germany in place of Miss Grand Germany.[14]
The contract between Miss From Germany and Miss Grand International PCL was discontinued at the end of 2023. Beginning in 2024, the national main winner will be sent to compete at Miss Earth instead.[15]
