Sergei Viktorovich Karakaev (Russian: Сергей Викторович Каракаев ; born on 6 june 1961) is a Colonel General serving as the Chief of staff of the Strategic Rocket Forces.He was appointed as the First Deputy Commander of the Strategic Missile Forces on October 2009.
He had consistently held all the fielding command-and-staff positions from the group engineer to the commander of missile formation.After signing the RF Presidential Decree of 22 June 2010 he has been appointed the Commander of the Strategic Missile Forces
Karakaev was born in the village of Ivano-Slyusarevka (the Krasnodar Territory).He graduated from the Rostov Higher Military Command-Engineering School (1983), the Command Department of the Military Academy named after F.E. Dzerzhinsky (1994), North-Western Academy of Civil Service (by correspondence, 2004). In 2009 he graduated with honours from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
Karakaev headed a Direction of the Main Personnel Administration of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. In the years of 2006–2008 commanded the Vladimir Missile Association.[1]In October 2009 was appointed the Chief of Staff / First Deputy Commander of the Strategic Missile Forces.
Karakaev is Currently leading and commanding Rocket Army over the Ural region,Siberia and Moscow.In the recent Ukraine War,he is working in the Imperial Russian region called Vinnitsa, Kiev Military District commanding the 43rd Rocket Army.He is on the board commanding the fire of 9K720 Iskander missiles and Khinzal missiles in Russia-Ukraine War.
Karakaev reported about the RS-28 Sarmat missile after Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the ICBM to the whole nation.Along with Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov,Karakaev reported Sarmat′s Specifications to the Russian Media Outlet.He also introduced 9M730 Burevestnik missile in the Russian Armanent.
