Na Baligh Afraad is Pakistani comedy film, directed by Nabeel Qureshi.[1] The film stars Aashir Wajahat, Samar Jafri in his film debut[2] and Rimha Ahmad. The film was released on Eid-ul-Azha 2024.
Set in 1990s in a lower middle-class Karachi, the movie follows the misadventures of two teenage brothers, Mazhar and Fakhar, who try to fast-track their growth and appear cooler. In their pursuit, they attempt to watch an adult film on VCR, but their plan leads to a hilarious series of mishaps and comedic errors.
The film was announced on May 28, 2024, with the poster being revealed by Qureshi on his Instagram handle.[6] The title of the film is inspired by the Qureshi's directorial debut Na Maloom Afraad.[4]
The trailer of the film was released on 12 June 2024.[7] The premiere of the film was held on 15 June 2024, at the Nueplex Cinema in Karachi.[8]
Dawn Images praised the story of the film, performances of the actors and the depiction of the ear 1990s but was critical of the pack of powerful comic moments.[9] A reveiwer from The News International was critical of the film and noticed its flat writing, forced humour, unnecessarily long run time and predictable characters but praised the performances of the actors including Mani, Ehteshamuddin and Mairaj.[10] Gaitee Ara Siddiqi from the same newspaper was more appreciative towards the film, and praised the story, Qureshi's direction and lead actors' performance.[11] An Express Tribune based reviewer criticised the weak screenplay and poor execution but lauded the some of the comical moments and acting performaces of Ehteshamuddin, Adeel and Mairaj but was a bit critical of the acting of the lead cast.[12]
