Danny Bentley is an American politician who has served as a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives since January 2017. He represents Kentucky's 98th House district. He is not seeking reelection in 2024.
He was first elected to the house in the 2016 Kentucky House of Representatives election. He was reelected in the 2018 Kentucky House of Representatives election. He was reelected in the 2020 Kentucky House of Representatives election. He was reelected in the 2022 Kentucky House of Representatives election.[citation needed]
He earned a bachelor of science and a doctor of pharmacy from the University of Kentucky. He has worked as a pharmacist and as an educator at Ohio University. He is a Baptist.[1][2] Bentley is a Type 2 diabetic.[3]
During a debate on the abortion pill RU-486, Bentley stated the drug was developed from the deadly chemical agent Zyklon B, and that the abortion pill was "invented by a Jew".[4] He then went on a tangent about Jewish women's sexual habits.[5][6]
"Did you know that a Jewish woman has less cancer of the cervix than any other race in this country or this world? And why is that? Because the Jewish women only have one sex partner."[7]
Bentley was condemned by multiple Jewish groups. Bentley later apologized for his statements, and stated that he stood with the Jewish community against hatred.[7]
On November 22, 2023, he announced that he would retire from the house and not seek reelection in 2024.[8]
