The title Princess of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and the use of the style "Serene Highness" has generally been restricted to the following persons:

• the legitimate male-line female descendants of the House of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg
• the spouses of legitimate male-line descendants of the House of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg
